Inviting Volunteers – We need YOUR help!

The Cypress Pond Park Committee, in cooperation with the City of Montgomery, invites interested persons to discuss the development of Cypress Pond Park.  Cypress Pond Park will encompass; (1) Cypress Inlet on the Alabama River adjacent to the City Amphitheater, (2) Cypress Creek, which runs approximately 6,000 feet up to the (3) Cypress Pond Area, totaling approximately 260 acres East of Lower Wetumpka Road and North of Oakwood Cemetery.

The Cypress Pond Park site is unusual in its location:  it is a large track of undeveloped land located in close proximity to a downtown business district that provides scenic views of the City from high bluffs overlooking slopes with ancient ravines carved in them by the forces of nature.  Below the bluffs, in lower swamp regions of the area, beautiful tupelo and cypress groves can be accessed.

This park will serve the needs of our City in and for education in nature and the environment, recreation, conservation and preservation of natural resources, land, water, plant and animal life and the economic revitalization of downtown Montgomery.

We are inviting persons with an active interest in being participants in the development of Cypress Pond Park to join with us in the organization of a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization to assist in the planning and funding of this great project.

  • Interested in project development. Would like to meet in the field or get info on your next scheduled office meeting.

  • I would like to know if I need any special permission to explore the creek area. I just found out about this treasure and want to plan a hike with some friends in February. I live less than a mile from the park, and am an avid hiker. I am so thrilled that this shangrala exists and what you guys are doing!
I also would like to know about any volunteer opportunities. I have worked for the National Park Service and have experience clearing and maintaining trails. Really, if there is anything I can do to help with this project, whether hard labor, even clerical or marketing assistance. I am ready to contribute my time, money and efforts to your work and would consider it an honor!
